StudioWhatsApp — local-GPU product photo studio for marketplace sellers
The problem
Meesho's transacting sellers crossed 1.04 million (+81% YoY), 45% from Tier 2-and-smaller towns. Pro shoots cost Rs.500-2,000/product — uneconomical for Rs.200-1,000 items — so sellers upload dim phone photos and lose the buy box. Existing AI photo tools charge Rs.999-1,999/month, still steep at these price points.
The idea
WhatsApp-first studio: the seller sends one phone photo and gets back marketplace-ready images — white-background shot plus two lifestyle variants, sized for Meesho/Amazon/Flipkart. No app, pay-per-use Rs.5-10/product via UPI. Inference on a single local GPU keeps marginal cost near zero; a Jev quality gate (marketplace-ready? noul; defect type choice) regenerates failures before the seller ever sees them.
Why now
Qwen-Image-2.1 (20 Sep 2026): 7B open weights running on consumer GPUs like the RTX 3090, native RGBA transparency, up to 10 reference images, Day-0 ComfyUI support — one local card serves the whole pipeline. Caveat: the 2.1 weights carry a research license barring commercial use, so the first commercial step is a Qwen license, not a GPU.
Build it with
- Qwen-Image-2.1Generation + editing in one checkpoint; RGBA transparency gives clean cutouts. Commercial license required before charging.
- ComfyUIDay-0 support; batch pipelines for background/lifestyle variants.
- WhatsApp Business APIThe entire UX — sellers already live there.
- Jev (TypeSafe AI)noul/choice quality gate on every output image; cheap enough to run per image.
