earshot: ears for coding agents
CPU-only open-source toolkit (CLI, Python API, MCP server) that lets coding agents describe, match, critique and synthesize sound: listening transcripts, launch-film scorecards, and code-based sound generation.
Why it matters
Gives agents a sense they lacked: agents can now hear what they generated and iterate on audio in code (forge/fit), with author-run blind tests showing synthesized sounds near-indistinguishable from recordings.
What you could build with it
A game studio could wire earshot into its build pipeline so a coding agent generates UI sounds in code, listens back with the critic, and iterates until the mix passes the team's reference profile.
Does it hold up?
Too early to judge: the toolkit runs locally on CPU and ships with evals, but the blind-test and fit-quality numbers are the author's own small-sample runs (one listener, 12 recordings), not independent validation.
