Physical Intelligence opens Pi API beta for robot foundation models
Physical Intelligence opened a waitlist beta of its Pi API on Oct 13: upload robot demonstration data, fine-tune its latest pi models on company-managed compute, and run the resulting policy on your own robot through a hosted inference gateway. Early partners: Actor (autonomous wheel loader), Almond (dual-arm deburr), Chef Robotics, Argon.
Why it matters
First hosted service turning a robot foundation model into fine-tuning-as-a-service — developers get new PI models swapped in behind the API without retraining from scratch; the 'OpenAI moment' for robotics software.
What you could build with it
