Render Sandboxes: a computer for every agent, in public beta
Render launched Sandboxes alongside Workflows and Shared Filesystems, giving every AI agent its own isolated Linux environment in a microVM that starts in under a second, suspends when idle and wakes with files and memory intact.
Why it matters
Sandboxes bill for CPU actually consumed rather than provisioned, scale to thousands of instances, and sit on the same platform as the APIs, databases and background jobs the agent works with.
What you could build with it
A startup building coding agents could give each customer task its own sandbox that survives between sessions, so an agent can restart the app it just built, read real logs and continue work days later instead of starting from a blank container.
Does it hold up?
Too early to judge: Sandboxes are in public beta with the core primitives documented, but no independent production writeups exist yet to confirm the suspend-and-resume behaviour at scale.
