Unity Gateway CLI (ug) — Databricks
Databricks launched the ug CLI on Sept 24: a single command that plugs coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot CLI, Pi) into Unity Gateway, where admins centrally manage approved models, MCP servers, skills, Smart Routing, and spending policies.
Why it matters
First vendor-neutral control plane for coding-agent sprawl: admins publish one agent config and developers get it via `ug <agent>` with locked, device-managed defaults; Databricks says its own tracing found $1.2M/yr in wasted AI spend from seven MCP tool bugs.
What you could build with it
Ship an internal ug-style policy template for the AI Launch Radar toolchain: a managed agent config with Smart Routing on, cohort-based model rollouts, and usage budget checks wired into CI.
Does it hold up?
Too early to judge: requires a Databricks workspace and Python 3.12+, and the repo license restricts use to Databricks services.
