Vercel Drives (GA) + Daemons (beta): persistent storage and always-on workers for AI agents
At Vercel Ship SF, Vercel made persistent Drives generally available and put Daemons in public beta: drives keep agent files and memory across Sandbox sessions (and fork into writable copies), while daemons run long-lived background workers without an HTTP endpoint.
Why it matters
It makes Vercel a backend for agents, not just frontends: state and background work live on the same platform as the app, removing the separate server or database teams normally need for agent continuity.
What you could build with it
An indie developer running a coding agent overnight could keep the agent's working state in a Vercel Drive and run its long review loop as a Daemon, so the agent picks up where it left off each morning without anyone managing a server or database.
Does it hold up?
Too early to judge: Drives only reached GA on Oct 15 and Daemons is in public beta, so real-world agent-backend evidence is just starting to accumulate.
