dsh-our-free-model: frontier models inside the DeepSeek shell, no login or key
A plugin for the DeepSeek Harness shell (dsh) that fills the model picker with free frontier models — DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and Kimi K3 among them — served from OpenCode's Zen and Kilo AI's public gateways, with a local OpenAI-compatible relay for other tools.
Why it matters
It removes the signup and billing step from trying frontier models in a terminal: install one plugin and the shell's model picker just works, with usage stats kept on the machine.
What you could build with it
A student or indie hacker without a paid API account could run a multi-model experiment from one shell: route the same coding prompt through DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and Kimi K3 via the plugin's relay, log quality and latency, and pick a default model on evidence rather than marketing.
Does it hold up?
Usable now for terminal users who already run dsh: a single plugin install with no login, though the free lanes depend on third-party public gateways whose availability and rate limits are outside the plugin author's control.
