REA: point a coding agent at any app and learn how it works
An MCP server plus CLI that connects Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI to reverse-engineering tools — Ghidra, IDA or Hopper for native binaries, headless JADX for Android APKs, Apktool for resources — covering 40+ target types, with analysis running locally.
Why it matters
It turns reverse engineering into an agent skill: instead of learning a RE toolchain, a developer asks their coding agent how a feature in a closed app is built and gets an answer grounded in the binary, with stated evidence and limits.
What you could build with it
A developer maintaining a legacy integration could point an agent at a vendor's closed desktop app to document an undocumented file format: the agent inspects the binary and the app's traffic, and the developer verifies each claimed field against real files before writing a parser.
Does it hold up?
Usable now as a local tool: the MCP server plus CLI runs analysis on the developer's machine and plugs into agents teams already use; the star surge is attention, not proof, and output quality still needs checking against ground truth per target.
